27/09/2004: 6:24pm Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, was amazing. The visuals and sound quality were outstanding. The only thing that lets ROTJ down is the first music scene in Jabba's Palace. This new scene is inexcusable. It adds nothing to the movie, the music is terrible, and the characters are retarded. Not to mention that it is out of character with the rest of the film. The original scene was much better and fit in with the movie properly. The fleet scenes in space are the some of the best parts of this movie. From Lando's "All craft pull up!" to Admiral Akbar's exclamation; "It's a trap!", this movie is a true classic. I am continuing to play through Baldur's Gate, and have just arrived in Nashkell. Current magical items for my character include: Ring of Protection +1, Long Sword +1, Large Shield +2 (and +1 vs missile weapons), some awesome gauntlets which increase my attack, and a cloak which gives me +2 charisma. Today's Random Picture: My Dinner! Spaghetti Bolognese from a recipe in my Edmonds "Food for Flatters" cookbook: Here is a mini review of the recently released Star Wars Trilogy DVD's: Episode 4: A New Hope: Excellent Visuals, but disappointing audio quality. Jabba still looks retarded, but less retarded than the original Special Edition. In my humble opinion (IMHO), all the CGI animals looks completely wrong - CGI animals never look as if they are moving correctly. The Banthas in Episode 4 were not CGI, thus they look more real and move more naturally than the other CGI animals in this film. Greedo and Han now shoot at the same time, which is better than Greedo firing first, but I guess after all this time I no longer care... And why does Han still say to Jabba; "Jabba, you're a wonderful Human being."? Clearly Jabba is not human, and I remember watching a documentary years ago on the special editions which showed Jabba as a human, and George was turning him into a CGI Jabba, like the Jabba we saw in ROTJ. More information here The Nitpickers Site: Movie Nitpick - Star Wars - 1977 Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back: Awesome Visuals and brilliant surround sound. The rain on Dagobah is an excellent example of what good surround sound should be like, as are all the ships flying around. A hilarious part is when the Star Destroyers are in the asteroid field, and the Captains are having a holographic conversation with Darth Vader. An asteroid hits the bridge of a Star Destroyer, completely destroying it, and you see the holographic image of the Captain shielding his eyes before he disappears, lol. (Since I had only watched Star Wars in fullscreen before today, I had never seen this before.) Tomorrow: Episode 6: Return of the Jedi Today's Random Picture: The Star Wars Trilogy DVD Box Set: I have now finished Need for Speed 2 on the Tournament and Knockout modes. Tournament was fairly easy, but Knockout was difficult, until I raced against a Ford GT90 with my McLaren F1 on the final track, Monolithic Studios. (I had previously raced, and lost against a McLaren F1 and a Ferrari F50) The Omega logo looks damn cool too... How many games have you seen recently that feature a Jewel Case fold out detailing the cars you are able to drive in the game? Need for Speed 2's Jewel Case is an excellent example that should be followed by other game developers: Even the back of the Jewel Case shows the professional quality of the game; the "Command Reference" is well laid out and completes the game as a whole: Not to mention the logo, clearly one of the best designed logos in the history of PC gaming: If you haven't played Need for Speed 2, I recommend you find a copy of it now and play it. Set the game mode to "arcade" and get ready to have a great gaming experience, and for even more fun, try a split screen game with a friend. New Movie uploaded! 3dfx Splash Screen Remember the days of 3dfx? Remember the Splash Screen that played when you started up a Glide game? Here it is, presented in all it's glory, for you to cherish and remember. Today's Random Picture: A Pasta Bake I made the other day!!! Need for Speed 2 is the greatest racing game ever. The music, the "fun" physics, the cars, the tracks, the menu layout, the interface, the HUD and the announcer's voice. Everything about it simply rocks. EA Games needs to go back to being Electronic Arts, and the original NFS 2 development team need to come back together to produce Need for Speed 2: 2 (the true sequel). In other news the 3dfx Voodoo 3 2000 is the best graphics card (for it's time) in the world! I played Need for Speed 2 on it just the other day with my "3dfx legacy box". Tonight's Dinner: Slightly Curried Meatballs, Dolmio Extra Garlic Pasta Sauce, and Spaghetti. And it tastes excellent :) Today's Random Picture: A scary advertisement from a cleaner... Welcome to September! And only 8 days late! Movies to watch: Today's Random Picture: Some Cannelloni I made! |
